Day 1 CAIRO Arrival at Cairo International Airport where you will be welcomed by our representative and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 2 CAIRO (B) Today experience the fabulous Cairo museum of Antiquities. Regarded as one of the most prominent in the world, offering visitors remarkable insights into Egypt’s ancient history dating back 5,000 years. The priceless antiquities include King Tutankhamun’s treasures, a spectacle beyond belief. Then continue to the 12th century fortress of Salah El Din and the Mohammed Ali Mosque overlooking the city, the Sultan Hasan Mosque and the colorful Khan El Khalili Bazaar.
Day 3 CAIRO (B) This morning you will be escorted by your private Egyptologist to the enigmatic Sphinx and the great Pyramids of Giza. Marvel at the great pyramid of Cheops one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Then continue to Memphis the capital of ancient Egypt to see the alabaster Sphinx and the mammoth statue of Ramses II. Then to the Necropolis of Sakkara to see the famous step pyramid of King Zoser and the wall of Cobras.
Day 4 CAIRO-LUXOR (NILE CRUISE)-KENA (B,L,D) You will be escorted to the airport this morning for your short flight to Luxor to embark on your Nile cruise ship. After lunch on board the ship you will sail the Nile to Kena.
Day 5 KENA-DEDERA-ABYDOS-LUXOR (B,L,D) Many great sites await today. At Dendera, you will see the Ptolemaic Hypostyle Hall, crypts and classic sanctuary of the God Ptah, legendary creator of the Universe. Then the Temple of Hathor goddess of love. Continue to Abydos, holy city of Osiris and the Cult of the dead, view the Temple of Seti I, upon whose walls and columns are curved the most finely executed bas-reliefs in all of ancient Egypt. Lunch on board and sail to Luxor.
Day 6 LUXOR-KARNAK and LUXOR TEMPLES (B,L,D) Today’s sightseeing includes the Luxor and Karnak Temples, a holy city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues, built over centuries and dedicated to the God Amon-Ra, his consort Mut and their son Khonsu. Dinner on board this evening followed by belly dancing show.
Day 7 LUXOR-WEST BANK-EDFU (B,L,D) In the morning cross the Nile to Luxor’s powerful West bank - Thebes. Sightseeing includes the Valley of the Kings where some 64 of Egypt’s Pharaohs had their palatial resting places hewed into the sheer rock, the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Queen Hutshepsut at Deir El Bahari, an architectural tour de force built against the sheer Theban cliff range. Ramses III’s funerary Temple and the twin Colossi of Memnon. Return to the ship for lunch. Afternoon at leisure as your ship sails to Edfu. Tonight will be the Captain’s welcome cocktail party followed by dinner.
Day 8 EDFU-KOM OMBO (B,L,D) In Edfu visit the Temple of Horus (build 237 BC) the Falcon God, Lord of the Sky. In the afternoon sail to Kom Ombo. Sightseeing includes a visit to Kom Ombo Temple with its beautiful murals and exceptional view of the river Nile, shared by the two gods; Sobec the Crocodile god and Haroeis the Sun god. Tonight dinner on board followed by a Galabeya party.
Day 9 KOM OMBO-ASWAN (B,L,D) Morning sail to Aswan. Today sightseeing includes the Old and High Dam, the ancient Granite Quarries and the Temple of Isis in the island of Philae. In the afternoon sail on the Nile by felucca around the Elephantine island to view the Agha Khan’s Mausoleum and around the Kitchener’s island. After dinner tonight enjoy a Nubian folkloric show.
Day 10 ASWAN-CAIRO (B) After breakfast on board you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cairo (optional excursion to Abu Simbel is available from Aswan before your flight to Cairo). Upon arrival in Cairo you will be escorted to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure in this exciting city.
Day 11 CAIRO (B) After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
