Itinerary (B = breakfast, L = lunch, D = dinner)
Day 1 ISTANBUL Depart on your overnight International flight to Istanbul with all meals en route.
Day 2 ISTANBUL Upon your arrival at Istanbul’s airport you will be met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure to get acquainted with fascinating city.
Day 3 ISTANBUL (B,L) A full day tour today takes you to Istanbul’s historical sites; a mixture of old and new as you drive the streets of the city. Visits include the Blue Mosque with its six minarets, the Byzantine Hippodrome, now an open air exhibition park with lots of monuments and St. Sophia Basilica. After lunch continue to Topkapi Palace to see the dazzling displays of the treasures of the Ottoman Sultans and the Grand Bazaar with its 4000 shops.
Day 4 ISTANBUL-IZMIR (B,L) Today your sightseeing starts with a cruise on the Bosporus, the strait that separates Europe and Asia and connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara. A great taste of the skyline with minarets, domes, Palaces, pinewood hills and ancient fortresses. After lunch cross the bridge to the Asian side of the city to visit the Beylerbeyi Palace, summer residence of the Ottoman Sultans with its original furniture and magnificent gardens, the handicraft center and more. This evening you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Izmir. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the hotel.
Day 5 IZMIR(EPHESUS) (B,L,D) Drive along the Aegean coast this morning to Ephesus. Visits to the ancient city include the Marble Street, the Celsus Library, the Roman baths and the Theater. We continue with a visit to St. John’s Basilica, the Shrine of Virgin Mary, where it is believed that St. John brought her to Ephesus where she lived her last years then to the Selcuk Archaeological Museum. Return to Izmir.
Day 6 PERGAMOS-TROY-CANAKKALE (B,L,D) Drive through rich olive orchards this morning on your way to Pergamos to visit the impressive site of this ancient city. Highlights include the Sanctuary of Asklipios, the Trojan Temple, the theater and the Acropolis with the Altar of Zeus, said to be where Satan had his throne. Continue to Homer’s Troy to visit the ruins of nine cities built one on top of each other and the enormous reconstruction of the famous wooden horse. Proceed to Canakkale for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 CANAKKALE-ISTANBUL (B,L) Cross the Strategik Strait of the Dardanelles this morning to Kalipolis, the famous battlefield of world war I enroot to Istanbul for overnight.
Day 8 ISTANBUL-DEPARTURE (B) Farewell Istanbul this morning as you will be transferred to the airport for your departing flight.
